Opal gives Otis a Littmus Lozenge and asks why he had gone to jail. He explains he liked playing the guitar, they told him to stop playing but he did not, so they took him to jail, and stated he was not a dangerous man. Opal decides to have a party for her friends. Gloria is nice and agrees to open her yard for the party. They decorate and make egg salad. All Opal friends arrive at the party and bring something to eat. The Preacher blesses the party. Winn Dixie disappears when the huge thunderstorm began. They initiate looking for Winn Dixie but cannot be found, so the Preacher and Opal start searching for Winn Dixie. Opal was worried and could think about what she would write on poster to find Winn Dixie. They returned to Gloria Dump’s house without Winn Dixie, but Winn Dixie hid underneath the bed because of the thunderstorm. Throughout the story India Opal Buloni pursues her journey toward friendship, love, understanding, acceptance, what really matters in life and about holding on and letting go. Excellent story I would definitely recommend to read “Because of Winn Dixie.”
